Justin's AI Newsletter
The most interesting content, news, and insights in AI each week.
--
Hey friends 👋,
The fall slowdown is upon us. Seems like we haven't had any major announcements in the world of AI for the past few weeks.
I expect that to change very soon...
In the meantime, our team at Cassidy have been shipping new AI features like crazy (more on that below).
Also, I've started posting a TON more AI updates across Instagram & Linkedin. If you haven't hopped on the train yet, now's the time! Don't miss out on daily AI insights and updates.
In this newsletter, I dive into some recent AI drama, what the election means for AI, and what the rest of the year looks like in AI.
Let's jump in.
AI LAUNCHES
🕵️ The search engine wars: ChatGPT vs. Google
A recently launched Chrome plug-in lets you make ChatGPT your default search engine. This plug-in smartly redirects your search from Google to ChatGPT right within the Chrome interface, bypassing Google’s search engine entirely.
Rather than developing a separate browser, ChatGPT is embedding itself right into Google's domain, making a bold play to gain some ground. As these search engine wars intensify, it's fascinating to see ChatGPT directly challenge Google's throne.
In a recent Reddit AMA, Sam Altman cited compute limitations as the main reason we haven't seen GPT-5 yet. OpenAI is just one of many players in the AI space hitting roadblocks with their old strategy of just making models bigger and throwing more data at them. Now, they're exploring new ways to make AI smarter by mimicking human-like thought processes.
The latest from OpenAI, the o1 model, is breaking away from the "bigger is better" mindset by improving how AI thinks during the inference phase. Other big names like Anthropic, xAI, and Google DeepMind are also on this new track, which might mean less reliance on super-computing power and more on clever problem-solving. Companies and investors are keeping an eye on these changes as they could redefine the AI scene and who gets ahead in the tech race.
I've been diving into some exciting collaborations over the past month, teaming up with various creators and experts. Check it out:
I recently had a great chat with Barbara Corcoran on "Behind the Biz" about how AI is shaking things up for small businesses. We looked at how AI can make life easier by automating tasks and boosting productivity, whether it's in recruiting, customer service, or content creation. Our discussion really highlighted how embracing tech can keep businesses ahead of the game, offering some straightforward steps for anyone nervous about jumping into the AI world.
I also had the opportunity to sit down with Connor Grennan, the Chief AI Architect at NYU Stern, and discuss AI education, interaction, and implementation. Connor and I dove into the way behavioral change can assess how we view the current capabilities of AI.
Check out the first clip from our chat here, and stay tuned for more clips on my LinkedIn over the next few days.
AI UPDATES
🇺🇸Trump's Impact on AI
With Trump heading back to the White House, the AI landscape is facing some interesting shifts. While his team is split on AI regulation, it's clear that staying ahead of China in AI development is a top priority, suggesting more focus on infrastructure like data centers and chip production.
The debate within Trump's circle over AI governance highlights a tug-of-war between those pushing for fewer regulations to boost innovation and others worried about AI's potential risks. With talks of strengthening export controls to limit China’s tech access and the evolution of AI safety measures, Trump's policies could redefine AI's role in national security. All eyes are on how this administration will balance innovation with precaution in the tech world.
Imagine researching a lead and crafting a personalized email for them in under a minute. With Cassidy, you can quickly tap into deep company data, like 10K reports, to create emails that really hit home with potential leads. It’s all about using these insights to speak directly to what matters most to decision-makers.
This means sales teams can whip up tailored emails faster, leaving more time to focus on building relationships and strategizing. By letting AI handle the heavy lifting, your outreach becomes not just efficient but also more effective. [Learn More]
